Alright, you've just finished giving your makeup brushes a good wash(Click on the text to see how to clean your makeup brushes), and now it's time to dry them properly. This is super important for keeping their shape, making them last longer, and stopping bacteria from growing. Here's how to do it:
First things first, after washing your brushes, gently squeeze out the excess water with your fingers, moving from the base of the bristles towards the tips. Be gentle; we don't want to mess up the shape.
Next, grab a clean, soft towel. Lay the brush heads flat on the towel and then gently roll the towel around the brush heads, pressing lightly to absorb more of the water.
Before you move on to drying, take a moment to reshape the bristles. You can use your fingers or a comb (for larger brushes) to help the bristles regain their original form. This will help keep their shape and make drying easier.
Find a spot that gets good air circulation for drying your brushes. Ideally, hang them upside down using a brush holder or let the brush heads hang over the edge of a table. This way, the water won't seep into the handle, which could cause mold.
While sunlight can kill germs, too much direct sun can damage the bristles, especially if they're made of natural fibers. So, avoid putting them in direct sunlight while drying.
Check on your brushes every few hours to make sure everything looks okay. Depending on the size of the brushes and how wet they were, it might take anywhere from a few hours to overnight for them to fully dry.
Once you're sure they're completely dry, store them in a clean, dry place where the brush heads aren't squished or bent out of shape.
By following these steps, you'll be able to dry your makeup brushes effectively. Not only does this protect your investment, but it also ensures that each time you apply makeup, you're doing it with the best tools possible. Remember, regular cleaning and proper drying are key to keeping your brushes in tip-top condition.
